Wraparound Straps & Bands
A visible strap follows the pipe profile and extends toward the wall on either side. Options cover round, plain square and corrugated square downspouts.

Downspout straps, brackets and hooks connect the vertical pipe to the building. The right attachment fits the downspout profile, provides the required wall clearance and suits the mounting surface. Its appearance also matters: a visible band can complement traditional metalwork, while a hidden mount keeps the front of the pipe clear.
K&M Sheet Metal offers fastening options for round, square and rectangular downspouts, including plain and corrugated profiles. Choose from formed straps, hidden mounts, brackets and wood hooks, or contact us about custom dimensions and architectural details.
Begin with the pipe shape and desired style, then check the dimensions and attachment details for the product. Use at least two straps, hooks, or brackets for every 10 feet of downspout. For a 20-foot run, use three: one about a foot from the top, one in the middle at the seam, and one about a foot from the bottom. PRO TIP: If using straps or wrap-around brackets, position them to cover the downspout joint for a seamless look.
A visible strap follows the pipe profile and extends toward the wall on either side. Options cover round, plain square and corrugated square downspouts.
Installed behind the pipe, these supports leave its front face unobstructed. Check the specified width and depth against the downspout and installation layout.
Brackets and hooks offer different ways to hold the pipe. Select the correct profile and understand how the support attaches to both the wall and downspout.
Straps are a familiar choice for residential and commercial downspouts. K&M straps have formed hemmed edge for a finished appearance and a stronger strap, with material and color options to coordinate with the pipe. Our straps are offered as a flat strap that you can bend on site for custom installs or preformed configurations to fit over the front of the downspout pipe; check the selected format before ordering. For preformed straps you will need to bend the mounting flanges on site. The mounting flanges can easily be bent using hand seamers.
For a rectangular pipe, measure both sides and identify which face sits against the building. For round pipe, record its diameter and whether it is smooth or corrugated. A nominal size alone does not establish the fit of every strap, particularly when replacing parts from another manufacturer.
The legs must reach suitable attachment points without forcing the pipe out of alignment. If the wall offset or pipe size exceeds the standard product dimensions, send a sketch for a custom strap review.
A bracket provides a shaped support around the pipe. For example, K&M’s copper Euro bracket is offered for 3-inch and 4-inch plain round downspouts. It uses a hinged closure with a side screw and includes a threaded mounting screw. Its stamped 48-ounce copper construction differs from a sheet-metal wraparound strap.
Check the included hardware and the wall connection required for your building. A supplied screw does not establish suitability for every wall material.
Wood hooks cradle the pipe and use a separate securing connection, commonly wire on the listed round hook designs. Profile-specific options include plain round, round corrugated and square designs. Materials and finishes vary, so distinguish copper-coated hooks from solid copper components.
Drive-in hooks and screw-mounted brackets use different installation methods. Follow the chosen product’s instructions and confirm suitable backing. Wire is not included with K&M’s wood hooks.
Strap options include copper, standard painted aluminum, Kynar-finished aluminum and steel, and Galvalume Plus. Specialty selections such as zinc, Freedom Gray and lead-coated copper depend on the product. Not every bracket or hook is offered in every strap material.
Specify the complete material and finish when ordering. A copper-colored paint is different from copper metal, and two products with the same color name may differ in shade or gloss. Check physical samples where available, especially when matching an existing installation.
Choose wall anchors, screws, rivets and securing wire that suit the supporting surface, metal assembly and exposure. Have the installer check compatibility rather than selecting attachment hardware by appearance alone.
K&M suggest you use at least 2 supports per 10-foot pipe section as a planning reference. Actual support requirements depend on the selected hardware, pipe size, mounting surface, exposure and project details. Confirm the final arrangement with the installer.
Keep the pipe aligned without pulling it against uneven siding or trim. Plan support positions together with downspout elbows and leave room to open or service cleanouts. Wall penetrations and anchorage should follow the building’s installation details.
Need a longer strap, an unusual pipe size or a support that complements existing metalwork? Send dimensions, photos and a sketch showing the downspout and wall connection. K&M can review custom strap and bracket fabrication, including material, shape and finish requirements.
Include the quantity, delivery location and requested schedule. Custom fabrication capability does not establish a structural load rating; identify any required engineering or performance criteria when requesting a quote.

Compare attachment styles and prepare the measurements needed to choose supports for your downspout system.
A strap generally wraps around the pipe and connects to the wall on either side. A bracket provides a shaped support or clamp, while a hook cradles the pipe and uses a separate securing connection. Their fit and mounting methods vary, so check the details of the selected product.
Measure the downspout’s outside diameter or both rectangular dimensions, identify whether it is plain or corrugated, and record its orientation and distance from the wall. Compare those measurements with the product drawing. When matching another manufacturer’s pipe, send measurements and photos rather than relying only on a nominal size.
Do not assume that it will. Some round strap listings cover more than one profile, while other supports are profile-specific. Confirm the listed applications and dimensions for the exact strap, bracket or hook you intend to order.
Two supports per 10-foot section is a planning reference used on several standard K&M listings. It is not a universal spacing or load requirement. The installer should confirm support quantity and placement for the product, pipe size, mounting surface, exposure and project requirements.
A hidden mount attaches behind the downspout so the front face remains clear of a wraparound band. K&M’s listed hidden mounts are installed on the wall before the pipe, with the legs fastened to its sides. Check the specified plain square or round pipe fit, width and depth.
The required clearance depends on the pipe route, wall surface, trim and chosen fastening system. Check the strap leg length or bracket dimensions against that clearance. If a standard support will not reach or align correctly, contact K&M about a custom option.
Yes. K&M can review custom dimensions, shapes, materials and finishes. Provide a sketch showing the pipe profile, outside dimensions, wall offset, attachment points and quantity, along with photos when matching existing work. Availability and fabrication details are confirmed for each request.
Options vary by style and include copper, painted aluminum, Kynar-finished aluminum and steel, and Galvalume Plus. Specialty metals may also be available. Check the selected listing or contact K&M; a material offered for a strap is not necessarily available for every bracket or hook.
Specify the same material, coating and color where possible, and compare physical samples when available. The same color name does not guarantee an exact match between different coatings, suppliers or production batches. Existing downspouts may also have weathered.
No. A copper-coated hook and a solid copper bracket have different material construction. Read the complete product description rather than choosing by color alone, especially when coordinating materials for an existing system.
No. K&M’s wood hooks do not include securing wire. Check the selected hook’s installation method and arrange compatible wire or other specified securing hardware before installation.
Included hardware varies by product. Some bracket listings specify a mounting screw, but that does not mean all necessary wall anchors or pipe fasteners are supplied. Review the listing and select any additional hardware for the mounting surface and assembly.
The wall connection must be appropriate for the specific construction and supporting material. Do not assume the same screw, anchor or drive-in hook is suitable for every surface. Have the installer identify suitable backing and the required anchorage and weatherproofing details.
Depending on the design, straps may use screws or rivets to connect to the pipe, while hooks may use securing wire and brackets may close around the pipe. Follow the selected product’s details and choose compatible hardware. The pipe connection and the wall attachment are separate parts of the installation.
Use the Submittals and Downloads page to find available strap drawings, and check the product listing for dimensions and included hardware. K&M also offers downspouts, elbows, cleanouts, tools and supplies to help coordinate the installation.
Availability depends on the style, size, material, finish and quantity. Custom parts require fabrication, and some standard options may also be made to order. Contact K&M before ordering if your project has a deadline, and allow separately for shipping or pickup preparation.
