Gutter Hangers & Brackets for Half-Round, K-Style and Box Gutters

Galvalume Half Round Gutter with K&M's #15 Aluminum Hangers
Support the Gutter. Match the Installation.

Choose by Profile, Mounting Surface and Material

Gutter hangers support the trough and connect it to the building. The right choice depends on more than gutter width: the bead or hem, fascia angle, mounting location and metal compatibility all affect the assembly.

K&M Sheet Metal supplies under-mount and hidden hangers, circle-and-shank assemblies, heavy-duty crossbars, roof and rafter mounts, and wedges for angled fascia. Choose a system that fits both the gutter and the structure behind it.

Half-Round Gutter Hangers: Under-Mount, Circle & Hidden Designs

#15 Fascia-Mount Bar Hangers

The #15 Half Round Hanger is our top-selling hanger, designed to support gutters from underneath. The copper version comes in either a 3/16" × 1" bar or a 1/8" × 1" bar, both featuring a stiffening bead and fold-over retaining tabs in place of a separate spring clip. It’s available in sizes 5, 6, 7, 7.6, and 8 inches, suitable for both reverse-bead and traditional-bead gutters.

Direct mounting needs a properly aligned fascia or supporting detail. Compatible roof mounts, rafter mounts, and wedges offer solutions for various other mounting situations.

#10 Combo Shank and Circle Hangers

The #10 Combo hanger is our second most popular choice, featuring a gem circle, shank, and mounting plate all in one factory-assembled unit for easy plumb fascia mounting. It includes a spring clip that wraps around the gutter bead to keep the gutter secure. Available in copper, aluminum, and galvanized steel, it comes in both 5- and 6-inch sizes.

Hidden Half-Round Hangers

Our 6-inch hidden hanger is made for K&M's reverse-bead half-round gutter. It fits inside the gutter and locks into the front bead, much like a k-style hanger. The back clips over the hem and is secured with a fastener or a compatible roof-mount rod. For extra hold, we recommend riveting the front bead to the hanger.

Selection of K-Style and Box Hangers

K-Style & Box Gutter Hangers: Hidden Supports and Crossbars

K-style hidden hangers stretch across the gutter, hooking onto the front lip and connecting at the back. Many fit compatible box profiles, but the front hem, back height, and overall span need to align for the hanger to seat properly.

Hidden Hangers with or without Screws

The Hangfast hanger with screw and clip is our most popular K-Style option, available in brass and aluminum for 5- and 6-inch gutters. Its built-in screw makes installation easier to handle. The Hangtite hanger comes without screws, giving installers the freedom to choose fasteners that suit the mounting surface.

Rear Clip vs. No Clip

The rear clip is the folded or hemmed part of a hidden hanger. A clipped hanger hooks over the back edge of the gutter, speeding up installation since you can set up all the hangers on the ground, making the gutter easier to install without fumbling to hold up the gutter and align the clip. No-clip hangers are often preferred for high-back gutters, larger profiles, or custom gutter designs.

Heavy-Duty Crossbar Hangers

Crossbars offer a great choice for larger or custom gutter profiles. The aluminum type is made from a 3/16-inch bar and comes in 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-inch sizes, with options for custom modifications. Copper and stainless steel versions are also available.

Fascia, Roof or Rafter Mounting?

Plumb and Angled Fascia

A plumb fascia is vertical. Direct-mount hangers designed for this surface can hold the gutter in its intended position without compensating for a sloping board. An angled fascia may require a compatible wedge or an adjustable mounting assembly.

K&M’s heavy-duty wedges are offered for selected #15 and crossbar hanger combinations. Check the specified connection and angle rather than treating any wedge as a universal fit.

Crown Molding, Roofs and Exposed Rafters

Roof and rafter brackets can provide mounting options where direct fascia attachment is unsuitable. The universal roof-mount drawing specifies 3/16-inch bar, a bolt and locking nut, and a separately purchased hanger.

Plan attachment to suitable structure and the roof weatherproofing detail before installation. A bracket’s adjustable angle does not establish that it can be attached to any roofing material or unsupported trim.

Shanks for Circle Hangers

A shank connects a compatible circle hanger to its mounting point. K&M offers different shank designs for different eave conditions, including the #30 adjustable-pitch shank for gem circle hangers. Check the selected shank’s mounting instructions and included hardware; a shank alone is not the complete gutter support.

Match the Hanger Metal to the Gutter

Select the actual base metal, not just a matching color. Copper-colored paint does not make an aluminum hanger a copper component. Review the gutter, hanger, fasteners and adjoining metals as one assembly.

For copper gutters, K&M lists copper, brass and stainless steel support options. Aluminum and galvanized steel should not be substituted directly against copper simply because their dimensions fit. For aluminum or coated steel gutters, use a hanger identified as compatible with that system and exposure.

Visible under-mount hangers may be available in finishes that coordinate with the gutter. Options vary by product; review the selected listing and ask about samples when appearance is important.

Spacing, Fastening and Gutter Guard Coordination

Hanger spacing must suit the product and installation. Gutter size, attachment strength, expected snow and ice loads, and the building’s supporting structure all matter. A heavy-duty hanger does not compensate for deteriorated fascia or inadequate anchorage.

The #15 product listing gives a 24- to 36-inch on-center range depending on application and expected snow loads. Treat this as guidance for that product, not a universal spacing rule. Use the selected hanger’s instructions and the project’s requirements to establish the layout.

If a gutter screen will rest on the hangers the spacing should not exceed 28" on center for proper support. Hanger position and shape can affect how its rear edge is supported. Select the gutter, hanger and guard together instead of assuming a guard fits every support arrangement.

What to Send When Matching a Hanger

  • Gutter profile: K-style, box or half-round, including bead style and any back hem.
  • Dimensions: Nominal size plus actual span, front and back heights, and a measured cross-section for custom work.
  • Mounting conditions: Fascia angle, roof pitch, crown molding or exposed-rafter arrangement.
  • Material and finish: Gutter metal, hanger preference and coating requirements.
  • Assembly: Required shanks, wedges, rods, clips, bolts and mounting fasteners.
  • Project details: Quantity, photos, requested schedule and delivery location.

K&M can review custom K-style and box gutter hanger requests. Include a drawing and the proposed mounting arrangement so the dimensions and connection details can be considered together.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

Gutter Hangers: Profiles, Mounts & Installation

Compare support types and plan a compatible mounting assembly.

How do I choose a gutter hanger?

Match the gutter profile and size, bead or hem detail, mounting surface and material. Check whether the assembly needs additional brackets, shanks, wedges or fasteners. For a custom gutter, provide a measured cross-section and photos of the mounting location.

What is an under-mount gutter hanger?

An under-mount hanger supports the gutter from below rather than spanning the inside of the trough. Its retaining tabs or clips secure the gutter to the support. K&M’s #15 bar hanger is an example.

What is the difference between the #15 and #10 half-round hangers?

The #15 is a bar hanger with fold-over retaining tabs. The #10 combo uses a circle hanger, a shank and a separate spring clip supplied as an assembled unit. Select by gutter profile, size and mounting conditions rather than treating them as identical supports.

Will a hidden half-round hanger fit any half-round gutter?

No. K&M’s 6-inch hidden half-round hanger is designed for its reverse-bead gutter. Do not assume it fits Euro-bead, double-bead or another manufacturer’s profile simply because the nominal gutter size matches.

What are gutter shanks?

Shanks connect compatible circle hangers to the building’s mounting arrangement. Different designs address different eave conditions. Confirm the circle-hanger connection, mounting method and required hardware when selecting a shank.

What is the #30 adjustable-pitch shank?

The #30 is an adjustable component used with a compatible gem circle hanger, sold separately. Its adjustment holes help set the mounting angle. Follow the product’s attachment instructions and confirm the complete assembly before installation.

What does clip or no clip mean on a hidden hanger?

It describes the rear hem on the hanger. A clipped hanger can engage over a compatible unhemmed gutter back. A no-clip hanger can fit inside the back hem of a suitable gutter. Check the actual gutter profile, particularly for box gutters and high-back designs.

Can K-style hangers be used on box gutters?

Often, if the hanger span and front and back connections fit. K&M lists hidden and crossbar hangers for compatible box gutters. Custom profiles, closed front hems or taller backs may need a different connection or a custom hanger.

Why choose a hanger with an integrated screw?

An integrated screw reduces the number of separate parts to handle during installation. It still must be suitable for the mounting surface and required attachment. A hanger without a screw allows the installer to select an appropriate fastener separately.

When should I consider a crossbar hanger?

Crossbars are an option for larger or custom K-style and box gutter applications. Confirm the actual span, front connection, material and attachment requirements. A heavy-duty product description does not by itself establish the load capacity of the finished installation.

What if my fascia is angled or there is crown molding?

A compatible wedge, roof mount, rafter mount or shank assembly may provide a suitable mounting arrangement. Send the fascia angle, roof pitch and photographs so the options can be reviewed. The hanger still needs attachment to suitable structure.

Can every hidden hanger be roof-mounted with a rod?

No. Use a hanger identified as compatible with the selected rod or roof-mount assembly. A hole in a hanger is not enough to establish compatibility. Check the connection hardware, mounting instructions and roof weatherproofing detail.

How far apart should gutter hangers be installed?

Spacing depends on the selected hanger, gutter, supporting structure and expected loads. Follow the product instructions and project requirements. Do not apply one spacing figure to every hanger or assume a heavy-duty hanger permits wider spacing in all installations.

What hanger materials should I use with copper gutters?

K&M lists copper, brass and stainless steel options for copper gutter applications. Match the complete assembly, including fasteners, and avoid substituting aluminum or galvanized steel directly against copper. Confirm suitability for the particular exposure and coating.

Are all mounting parts included with a hanger?

No. Contents vary by product. Some hangers include a screw or spring clip, while roof mounts, shanks, rods or other fasteners may be separate. Review the selected listing and drawing before ordering the complete assembly.

Will gutter guards work with these hangers?

Compatibility depends on the guard and hanger design. If a screen rests on the hangers, their spacing and shape must meet its support requirements. Review the gutter guard’s installation detail along with the hanger layout.

Can you manufacture custom gutter hangers?

Yes. K&M can review custom K-style and box gutter hanger requests. Send the gutter cross-section, dimensions, material, mounting arrangement, quantity and photos or drawings. Confirm fabrication options and estimated preparation time before ordering.

Will replacing the hangers fix a sagging gutter?

Not always. Inspect the fascia or framing, fasteners, gutter condition and existing layout. New hangers cannot correct deteriorated supporting material or an unsuitable attachment detail. Have the cause reviewed before choosing replacement components.
