Our European Bead Half Round bonderized steel gutter is fabricated from 26 gauge material. Bonderized steel half round european gutters offers a traditional style appropriate for both historic restoration and new construction at a very cost effective price. Bonderized steel commonly referred to as "Paint Grip" in the gutter and roofing industry is a ready to paint material. If you would like your gutters to match a specific color this is your best option as it can be easily painted without applying any special primers or chemicals that would typically be needed to etch the metal in order to accept paint. Bonderized steel is actually Galvanized G90 Steel that has been put through a phosphate bath and has a layer of Chromate applied and dried, this process produces the dull grey color characteristic of bonderized galvanized steel which provides an excellent primer for painting applications. There are some disadvantages that should be considered before using this type of metal. Bonderized steel comes with no warranty on the finish, it scratches very easily and will have small scratches just from the manufacturing process, if it is to be painted then this is not a problem and the small scratches from manufacturing do not affect the paint adhesion and will not be noticed once painted. Due to the chormate coating bonderized metal should be painted as soon as it's installed as white rust can form rather quickly if left unprotected.

Joining gutter lengths / seams

To put 2 lengths of gutter together, simply cut back the front bead / lip of the gutter 1" or more depending on your needs. Do the same for the hem in the back if present. Cut where needed to create tabs. Overlap the 2 lengths of the gutter and join them with zip screws / rivets and sealer.
Coupling pieces can be custom manufactured if needed. Keep in mind that using a coupling piece like a cover plate gives the appearance of 2 seams. Splice plates can also be manufactured. Unlike cover plates, these sit on the inside of the gutter, giving the appearance of one seam, like overlapping 2 gutter lengths.

Traditional bead half-round gutters are custom made manually and not roll formed through a machine from coil stock as traditional gutters, which limits the lengths to 19.5' and not 20' or "infinite lengths".
